Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: From Diagnosis Through Interventions for Home and School
Dr. Mooney’s presentation will provide participants with an overview of Nonverbal Learning Disabilities (NLD) and how this diagnosis can affect the student and their classroom setting. The discussion will include brain structure and functions, developmental manifestations, assessment/diagnosis, and will place particular emphasis on interventions for both home and school. Case studies will be presented and a question and answer session will be included. Each participant will receive handouts written by Dr. Mooney.
Understanding Individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome, NLD, or High-Functioning Autism
The goal of this full day seminar is to provide ideas, strategies, models and interventions that are comprehensive and proactive to maximize the potential of individuals with Asperger’s Syndrome or high functioning autism. A history of the disorders will be discussed, as well as identification and assessment of the issue, planning for the future success, and an open discussion of individuals Asperger’s Syndrome, nonverbal learning disabilities, or high functioning autism. This seminar is designed for special education teachers, administrators, classroom teachers, instructional aides, police liaisons, attorneys, mental health providers and parents.
