Author of Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: A Guide to School Success (May 2006) and Co-Author of A Train Ride to Grandma’s (with NO chocolate donut)! (September 2007), Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: A Guide to School Success (The Teacher’s Manual), and Nonverbal Learning Disabilities: A Preteen’s Experience, Dr. Dean Mooney is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist - Doctorate, and a Licensed School Psychologist in the state of Vermont. He has received National Certification in the United States as a School Psychologist and is also licensed to practice clinical psychology in Ontario, Canada - his birthplace.
Maple Leaf Clinic (Vermont), founded by Dr. Mooney, focuses on assessments of children, adolescents and adults (educational, psychological, neuropsychological), therapy over the lifespan, consultation (clinical and educational), supervision, and professional development.
Maple Leaf Clinic is also proud to host Camp Maple Leaf, a summer camp that caters to the social needs and relaxation skills of campers with Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, Asperger’s Syndrome, and High Functioning Autism.
In addition to Maple Leaf Clinic, Dr. Mooney has worked as a School Psychologist for 22 years. This role in the educational arena has included providing clinical supervision (individual and group) to numerous clinical staff across several disciplines. In addition, he is an Adjunct Professor for the College of St. Joseph, and Castleton State College in Vermont.
Dr. Mooney is proud to be a member of the Health Advisory Board of the Turner Syndrome Society of the United States, the Professional Advisory Board for The College Internship Program at The Brevard Center, Melbourne, Florida and The Berkshire Center, Lee, Massachusetts, and the Professional Advisory Board of ASPEN (Asperger Syndrome Education Network).
Dr. Mooney is a well-known and popular presenter, especially on the topic of Nonverbal Learning Disabilities. He frequently presents for school districts across the United States, as well as for national organizations such as: the Williams Syndrome Association, the Turner Syndrome Society, and the Magic Foundation. He has presented across the U.S., Canada and England.
