Nonverbal Learning Disabilities
From Diagnosis Through Interventions for Home & School



Presentation:
Dr. Mooney will provide participants with an overview of Nonverbal Learning Disabilities (NLD) and how this diagnosis can affect the student and their classroom setting. The discussion will include brain structure and functions, developmental manifestations, assessment/diagnosis, and will place particular emphasis on interventions for both home school. Case studies will be presented and a question and answer session will be included. Each participant will receive handouts written by Dr. Mooney.

At the end of this seminar the participant will be able to:

  • Define a Nonverbal Learning Disability (NLD)
  • Discuss the battery of tests recommended for diagnosing NLD
  • Identify the eight diagnostic criteria for diagnosing NLD
  • Identify at least four neurological diseases, disorders and/or dysfunctions that are closely related to NLD
  • Develop at least four suggested interventions to assist the student with NLD
